At the recent SA Young Wine show award ceremony for the greater Swartland region, which incorporates the Darling region, Cloof wines bagged the trophy for the champion Pinotage from this well contested region.
The SA Young Wine Show, the country’s biggest and oldest wine competition, grants winemakers from the eight different regions the opportunity to benchmark their different wines against those of their peers. This was the first time that Cloof wines entered this competition and is a truly significant achievement to take home this trophy.
After blending wines from two different low yielding bush vine vineyard blocks, one planted in 1987 and the other planted in 1997, the result was a Pinotage unparalleled to other as proven by this remarkable accolade.
This award reinforce again the reputation that Cloof wines has build over the last fifteen years for producing top quality wines from South Africa’s signature varietal.
