Sohos underground sensation Cahoots is keeping the spirit of summer alive this autumn with the launch of the splendid Squiffy Picnic. Beginning on Sunday, 25th October, guests will be whisked away from the hustle and bustle up above, to a tranquil garden party down below, complete with wicker picnic hampers filled with delightfully British cuisine and cocktails circa 1946.
Upon arrival, the stationmaster will greet guests with a refreshing Sipsmith Summer Cup Cocktail before heading down the apples and pears. Picnickers can sift through the vintage dress box for sunhats before heading to their picnic tables laden with a tartan blanket, flowers and a dedicated hamper menu that pays homage to food and cocktail favourites from post-war Britain. Guests have the option of three different hampers including, The Spivs & Scoundrels, Starlets & Sirens and Aristocrats & Fat Cats, all of which are packed with scrumptious fare and delightful tipples for the ideal picnic experience.
The Spivs & Scoundrels picnic basket will arrive filled with the choice of one comforting Brilliant Ale, Shepherd Naeme IPA, Double Stout or Spitfire as well as a cheeky hip flask of Sipsmith Gin and tonic water. The Starlets & Sirens, ideal for glamour gals, includes a bottle of white, red or rose as well as a hip flask of Sipsmith Sloe Gin and tonic water. For a little bubby, the Aristocrats & Fat Cats hamper includes a bottle of Nyetimber English sparkling wine, and a hipflask with Cognac or Sipsmith Damson Vodka to knock back.
All three squiffy hampers are filled to the brim with a selection of ration-inspired sandwiches including cucumber, smoked salmon and cream cheese, salt beef and horseradish and jam. For sustenance, the hampers will also come with a delicious homemade pork pie, sausages and bangers and a selection of British cheese with Quince jelly. For dessert, the hamper will be filled with an indulgent homemade tiffin, sweet lavender shortbread and Victoria sponge cake along with a traditional British sweet selection to polish off the cocktails with.
Picnickers can look forward to a jolly knees up with live jazz, swing and lindyhop. There may even be a cheeky sing-a-long around the piano later in the evening!
The Inception Group also own and operate 80s themed nightclub, Maggies, the acclaimed Bunga Bunga, an Englishmans Italian, Bar, Pizzeria and Karaoke venue in Battersea, and Mr Foggs a Mayfair based bar modelled on the actual home of Jules Vernes most famous adventurer, Phileas Fogg. Last summer, they launched Cocobananas, which takes inspiration from a Brazilian Beach party. This past December, they launched Beaver Lodge, a cabin bar and dance saloon based on the winter cowboy log cabins found in Wyoming. This autumn, Mr Foggs Tavern, a Victorian pub, gin parlour and salon, will open on St. Martins Lane.
