Madeira’s notorious Wine Festival will be returning to the scenic island once again, this year taking place between the 28th August and the 4th September 2015. Escape to the wellness haven of the Quinta Splendida resort and botanical gardens, where guests are invited to indulge in a special wine package, available throughout August and September.
From the end of August the streets of Funchal are filled with stalls offering endless wine tastings and traditional Madeiran food. Music from open air concerts and the smell of barbequed meats drift through the streets, lined with dancers and regional craft stalls. You can even try your hand- or feet, at wine pressing with the famous wine region of Camara de Lobos inviting visitors to re-enact the grape treading during the Wine Harvest.
When it’s time to retire from the festivities, the peaceful resort of Quinta Splendida is ideally located in the nearby village of Canico. Home to a sprawling botanical gardens, with over a thousand species of plants and flowers, the Spa provides the perfect escape to unwind after a long day of wine tasting.
