Sandia Change and Kitchen Table Go to Champagne

Sandia Chang and James Knappett of Kitchen Table, the Michelin starred restaurant behind bubbledogs in Fitzrovia, will travel to Champagne this autumn to host an exclusive dinner. Held over the 22nd and 23rd November, the event will take place at the prestigious Hotel Les Avises, nestled on the Jacques Selosse estate.

The picturesque setting will be the backdrop to an extremely rare opportunity: a tasting held by Anselme Selosse, who took over the vineyard from his father Jacques. This will take place prior to the dinner in Selosse’s historical cellar, where guests will be able to sample the estate’s prestigious sparkling wines. The Champagne produced on the estate is so prized that the hotel must often hang a sign outside saying ‘No more Champagne’ when the last bottles have been sold. With Sandia’s unparalleled knowledge of artisanal Champagne, gained from years of working as a top sommelier in restaurants such as Noma and Per Se, paired with Anselme’s experience at the helm of such a world-renowned estate, the evening is one not to be missed.

To follow, Kitchen Table’s Chef Patron James Knappett will prepare a tasting menu celebrating the finest seasonal ingredients, a reflection of the philosophy at James’ London restaurant. Prior to the event, James will journey to the nearby markets to explore the region’s local produce and collect fresh ingredients to complete his special menu. Champagne and wine will be available for purchase from the estate’s extensive menu to accompany the dinner.

The Jacques Selosse estate is in the charming village of Avize, one of the 17 grand cru villages of Champagne, and the most famous of the Côte des Blancs region. The hotel, part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux fellowship, is housed in the elegant manor house overlooks the sprawling vineyards. Guest bedrooms boast spacious windows that frame the mix of classic and contemporary decoration, delivering both the luxuriousness of a hotel combined with the warmth of a traditional French guesthouse.
