Zaika Makes New Menu Additions for Autumn Months

Kensington’s much-loved Indian restaurant, Zaika, has announced some wintery additions to its menu for the autumn months including Peshawari Lamb, Spiced Pumpkin Cake and Cardamom Beer.

The lamb dish is marinated in raw papaya, ginger and garlic paste with chili, coriander and garam masala and is set off beautifully by the latest addition to Zaika’s drinks menu, True Maharaja’s award winning cardamom beer.

A seasonal dessert of Spiced Pumpkin Cake with sweet potato sauce, pumpkin gel, pickled raisins  – finished with chilled cream cheese – was a huge success over the Halloween weekend and is well matched to Zaika’s own house chai (hot tea with sweet spices) recipe.

Shoeb Haider, head chef at Zaika of Kensington continues to stamp his own style on the restaurant by constantly innovating with the Awadhi cuisine that lies at the core of the restaurant’s offering. In just 6 months, Haider has won the coveted double AA Rosette and has ambitions of reaching Michelin standard in the not too distant future.

Haider comments: “This is a great season to play around with flavours and texture – there is such a great choice of ingredients. As customers look toward winter, they tend to opt more for these wintery spices and flavours.”
