To celebrate this year’s London Design Festival, Lyle’s restaurant, Crane Cookware and Very Good & Proper, are creating a very special experience for just a few diners, from the 22nd to the 24th September, taking place at Lyle’s restaurant in Shoreditch, the busy hub of the festival.
At this one-off installation, chefs and designers will be coming together to showcase the beautiful designs of the new Crane Cookware range and table and chair designs by Very Good & Proper, as well as award-winning food by Lyle’s Head Chef James Lowe.
One area of the restaurant will be reserved for the installation. Using Crane pans to prepare and present the meal, the Lyle’s team will be serving a special menu on the Very Good & Proper table, designed to be shared communally by up to 10 people at each service. Diners will be invited to dig in and share fantastic food from a special set menu, using plates by Owen Wall and ceramicist Skye Corewijn. Electric Daisy Flower Farm will be supplying some of their beautiful seasonal flowers.

Crane Cookware cast iron pans have been created by product designer Barnaby Tuke together with food writer Charmain Ponnuthurai. The Crane range is made from vitreous enameled sand-cast iron, and is produced by one of France’s longest-established foundries. The cookware has a modernist elegance with functionality at the core, whilst retaining a pared-back aesthetic that will not date.
The table and chairs have been designed and made by ‘Very Good & Proper’. Their modern and elegant tables and chairs feature linear designs, creating simplicity whilst creating high visual impact all at once.
This special service, perfect for anyone visiting the festival, will be available for lunch and dinner on Tuesday 22nd September; lunch and dinner on Wednesday 23rd September, and the final lunch on Thursday 24th September and will cost £29 per head for lunch and £44 per head for dinner. Each lunch service will begin at 1.00 pm to ensure that everyone is seated and ready to eat together. Each dinner service will be at 7.00 pm.
